Ward Boundary & Parish Consultation
In May 2021, the Local Government Boundary Commission for England carried out an electoral review of ward boundaries across the Borough of Rushcliffe. This gave the Upper Saxondale Residents’ Association (USRA) an opportunity to propose that our village become its own parish rather than be divided between the parishes of Radcliffe on Trent and Cropwell Butler & Tithby.
This would enable USRA to be replaced by a parish council, funded by the council tax parish precept rather than by voluntary contributions, meaning all households would contribute to the maintenance of the land and village amenities.
In September 2022, our proposal to become a parish was approved.
And on 1st April 2023 we became our own parish of Upper Saxondale, within the Borough of Rushcliffe and part of the newly formed electoral Ward of Newton alongside the villages of Newton, Saxondale and Shelford.
In the May 2023 local elections the Upper Saxondale Parish Council was formed.
